Your Child Just Graduated From High School, Now What Do You Do With Their Stuff?
High school graduation can be a bittersweet time for parents. One the one hand, you are ready to have your child leave the nest and start their own adventure, but on the other hand, you may feel sad about not getting to see them every day.
This transition tends to raise the age-old question: “what do I do with their stuff after they move out?”
Here are some suggestions to simplify your life:
Help your child go through every space in their room and declutter things that no longer add value to them i.e. – high school projects/papers, clothes that don’t fit, etc.
Make a list of everything they will need to take with them to college or their new home and see if they already have those items in their room so you don’t have to spend money.
Start packing those items up early that way you aren’t scrambling the week before they move.
Decide whether you will leave their memorabilia displayed in their room (i.e. – trophies, certificates, stuffed animals) or pack them up so you can repurpose their room for something else…think home gym, office, or media room.
If you are feeling stressed by this process and you don’t know how to start decluttering or getting organized, then the Clutter-Free Home online course is perfect for you! It’s a step-by-step guide designed to help you shift from feeling overwhelmed to organized in a short amount of time.
