Use Your Natural Gift for Helping Others to Build a Home Organization Business You Love

Maybe you're a teacher, occupational therapist, behavior analyst, project manager, or designer. Maybe you're in a completely different helping profession.

What matters is this: you've spent years guiding people, breaking down big challenges into manageable steps, and celebrating the wins, both big and small.

And somewhere along the way, you've discovered you love organizing.

Maybe it started with helping a friend declutter their playroom. Or reorganizing your classroom supplies in a way that just made sense. Or noticing how much calmer you feel when your own space is functional and peaceful.

You light up when you help someone create order from chaos. You see the relief on their face when things finally click into place. And you've started to wonder... could I actually do this? Could I help people organize their homes for a living?

You absolutely can. And you're more qualified than you think!

Maybe you're feeling…

Like there's something missing in your current work, even though you "should" be grateful for your job. Exhausted by the system, the paperwork, the lack of freedom to help people in the way you know works best. Drawn to the flexibility and creativity that organizing could offer, but worried that your own home isn't perfect enough. Curious about what it would feel like to build something that's truly yours, but unsure where to start.

If any of this resonates, I'm so glad you're here.

You don't need a perfect home to help others organize theirs. You don't need a special certification or a lifetime of organizing experience. What you need is heart, empathy, a willingness to learn, and proven systems that actually work.

And I can teach you everything else.

Hi, I'm Sarah — and I've been exactly where you are.

Twenty-two years ago, I became an occupational therapist because I genuinely wanted to help people live better lives. And for a long time, I did love the work. But slowly, something started to shift.

I felt more and more constrained by the system. The paperwork felt endless. I couldn't serve my clients in the way I knew would help them most. I'd come home exhausted, not from the work itself, but from working within a system that didn't align with my values anymore.

Then I discovered something that changed everything.

After my mother-in-law gave me a book about home organization, I started decluttering my own home. First it was just the clothes in my closet that no longer fit and made me feel bad about myself. But as I let go of those things, I felt this incredible sense of freedom and relief. So I kept going — room by room, closet by closet, drawer by drawer.

And something unexpected happened. As the physical clutter left my home, I felt less anxious. I had more time because I was cleaning less. I felt empowered to rediscover who I was outside of all the "shoulds" I'd been carrying.

That's when I had my lightbulb moment:
What if I could combine my OT training with this organizing work?
What if I could help other overwhelmed people experience this same transformation?

Turns out, there were a LOT of people who needed exactly that kind of help.

Six years and hundreds of clients later, I run Balanced Home Organization — a business I built from scratch, on my own terms. I work primarily with neurodivergent clients (which is where my OT background really shines), and I get to use every bit of my clinical expertise to create organizing systems that truly work for different brains and bodies.

Here's what my days look like now: I wake up genuinely excited to work. I have complete freedom to make decisions about how I serve my clients. I set my own schedule. I use my skills in a way that feels creative and meaningful. And I'm helping people transform not just their homes, but their entire lives.

I left behind the burnout, the constraints, and the feeling that something was missing.

If this is the path you're feeling drawn to, I know that you can do this too. I'd be honored to show you how.

Your Background Makes You Perfect for This

You might be thinking: "But my house isn't perfect. How could I teach people to organize?"

Home organization isn't about perfection. It's about progress, strategy, and compassionate problem-solving.

As a teacher, therapist, analyst, or project manager, you already know how to:

  • Break down complex problems into manageable steps

  • Adapt your approach based on individual needs

  • Create systems that actually work in real life

  • Build trust with people who feel overwhelmed or embarrassed

  • Celebrate small wins and guide lasting change

These are the exact skills that create successful organizing businesses. You’re simply translating the expertise you already have into a new, fulfilling career.

As you land your first clients…

We'll focus on: Prepping for consultations, what to say when someone ghosts you after a consultation, how to handle emotional moments when clients feel overwhelmed or ashamed, and setting boundaries that protect your energy.

"I Am Genuinely Giddy on the Days I Wake Up and Go to Work"

Sarah introduced me to the profession of home organization and she was one of the main reasons I had the confidence to start my own organizing business. I worked as a traditional OT for 10 years, but I always felt like there was something missing. I was tired of "the system" and not having the autonomy to do what I believed to be best for/with my clients.

Sarah helped me appreciate the perspective and skills that OTs can bring to the industry... it is a pretty perfect fit. She taught me the organizing process and how to establish trust and rapport with a wide range of clients who are often overwhelmed and embarrassed. She is a natural teacher.

I love the freedom, the creative challenge, and most of all, that I am truly helping people. The days that I wake up and go to work I am genuinely giddy!
