Simplify Your Life This Holiday Season

The holiday season is upon us, which can be exciting for some and overwhelming for others. If you are the latter, this blog post is for you! Over the years, I have seen many clients become stressed during the holiday season as a result of too much physical, mental, and calendar clutter. I’m here to help you simplify your life this holiday season!

Here’s how to do it:

Physical clutter

  • If you are having guests stay over, start by decluttering and organizing the spaces that they will inhabit during their stay. Typically, this is the guest room, guest bathroom, living room, and kitchen. Start with the guest bathroom because it is the easiest and move to more challenging areas, tacking one room at a time.

  • As you put up and take down your holiday decorations this season, declutter the items that never got put up. These are the items you keep ‘just in case’ and they are taking up precious real estate.

Mental clutter

  • Write out a list of the people you would like to purchase gifts for to help you stay organized.

  • Minimize gift giving this year to prevent stress. Give each person on your list one gift.

  • Purchase experiences vs. stuff to simplify your life and theirs (i.e. – a round of golf, gift certificate to a restaurant, movie tickets, etc.). The best part is that you can do this from the comfort of your own home, which eliminates stress.

Calendar clutter

  • Stop spending time doing holiday traditions that have no meaning or value to you. Just because you’ve always done it, doesn’t mean you have to continue doing it.

  • Only spend time with people who make your life easier and who bring you joy. Don’t fill up your calendar with meaningless social obligations that weigh you down

If you are feeling overwhelmed and you don’t know how to start decluttering or getting organized, then the Clutter-Free Home online course is perfect for you! It’s a step-by-step guide designed to help you shift from feeling overwhelmed to organized in a short amount of time.
